1992 Buick Park Ave trunk motor not working

Hi. I was told to start a new thread as it would generate more responces as compared to making an addition to a previous thread.

I have a 1992 Buick Park Ave. The truck assist motor is not working now. I dont know why. Was working till a friend tried to close the trunk without knowing it was motor operated. Now its not working. Its latching... but motor not kicking it.

Question... how do I go about checking to see " what " damage was done by the trunk being closed hard? At the end of the day... If it still doesnt work, not problem. Others have said they took the motor off and repositioned the gears to the "closed " position and used the trunk manually. I have no problem doing this if need be. But what part of the motor did you take off? How did you move the gears? When you reinstalled the motor to work manually, is the motor live or dead? Meaning... did you reconnect the power wires? someone also mentioned to take a part off the motor and connect a 9 volt battery and wires to the the two terminals and see if the motor will work this way. What part did you take off? Where did you connect the battery wires too?

Im car repair stupid so If this is a complicated fix, I will no doubt end up screwing it up. If its an easy fix... I got a 50/50 chance of getting it right. :) A step by step guide would really help me. Plus... I dont know if the motor is working or not, just it wont kick in and pull the truck down.

Any ideas, help or suggestions? Thanks in advance

never worked on a pa but on my bird theres a plastic piece with two metal tabs on the trunk lid that makes with some metal on the car that tells the motor to start cranking that may have gotten messed up
