Changing your headlights 96-99

Not everyone is handy with a car. So here is something we all need to do at some point. That head light is out and you need to change it before you get pulled over. Lets assume you went out and bought the correct bulb for your car. I strongly suggest changing both headlights at the same time. They tend to burn out very close to each other.

Pop your hood and look behind the headlights. You will see where the wires enter. Your headlights are the outside set. High beams are the inner set. These are not the same. Headlights are 9006, and high beams are 9005. You will have to move the battery out of the way to get that headlight.

You will have to reach in to turn the socket clockwise about 1/4 of a turn and then remove the whole socket.

Now move the retainer from the clip and wiggle the socket from the plug.

Now do the reverse to install the new bulb. Try not to touch the glass with your fingers, oils can shorten the life of the bulb.

Push socket back in head light assembly and turn counter clockwise about 1/4 turn.

Now turn on your lights and make sure they are working.

Good work. :Thumbs
