I'm not sure what I did, but my front wheels are a PAIN in the *** to get clean now, especially after brakedust + rain mix and dry. My brakes like to make tons of brakedust.. not sure why, they're like 80 percent new, and rotors are in decent shape.

Only thing I can think of that I may have ruined them is used some heavy duty Meguiars 'wheel brightener'. The stuff is so potent, I dripped some of its pure form (normally dilluted to 4:1) on the garage floor, and now there'* a bright white mark there. But my friend used it on his Audi TT rims, as well as my friend'* 91' Camaro Z28, and both of their rims took it just fine. Mine looked like the same material, so I figured it'd work.

It started with me noticing little like water spots on the rims after the first time I used it. I just figured they'd never gotten a deep cleaning, and when you stepped back, you couldn't see it. So I figured it was just really clean.

Now it'* three doses later, and if you take your fingernail to the front rims, it feels like you're scratching a chalkboard. If you go to the back one, it feels as smooth as a car that just got a $300 detail job. I just put some brake disc quiet on my pads the other day, and I think I mixed up the left and right set of pads. I also lubricated the pins holding the calipers on because I don't think it was free to move at all because the outer pad on the front left was way more worn than the right. So between the lubrication, and switching the left and right pads, it wanted to make a bunch of brake dust. I drove around three days in the rain after I did that, and it made like a black water that dried on my rims.

Today I washed the car, and the rims took about ten minutes a piece, with a tire scrub brush and some of my cheap wheel cleaner I picked up at autozone. I didn't want to use the strong stuff anymore and do any more damage. There'* still light showing of black water spots and runs... but when you stand back you can't really tell.

I guess my main question is... is it possible to re-clear these wheels and possible fix some errors on them? What would the re-finish process be like?

Yeah, I think you made a booboo. I've heard that Meg'* stuff can be really harsh on certain types of wheels. Can't help you on how to fix it though.

If you don't mind sanding your wheels, you can get them evened out, or at least the parts right in the middle and going up to the lip. Then, painting is in order! I like to use Armor All wheel shine. it'* awesome. Can you get a closeup picture of your rims?

I never use anything but Spray 9 on my wheels.

Drove 40 miles and covered the rims in brake dust already. I must be an aggressive braker lol. So I took a napkin and wiped it down real quick to show you the pic. The dark water-spot looking things are what I can't get off. And like I said, if you rub your fingernail on it, it'* like a chalkboard compared to the back.

P.*. I don't remember all that curb rash... either the GF (doubtfully), or the guys at the transmission shop that used a quarter tank of gas to 'test' the new trans did that.
