Default Cleaning the coolant recovery bottle

OK, the grungy coolant bottle finally got to me tonite, so I removed it, scrubbed the outside with some Castrol degreaser, but didnt know how to get the scale and slime outta the inside. I let it soak for a bit, didnt do much good, so I stole a trick from restaraunt waitresses, I filled it about 1/3 full of ice cubes and shook it around with just a little water added. This is noisy!, not recommended if there are children sleeping (trust me on this one) it came out OK, not perfect but most of the scale is gone. Does anyone have a better way?

You probably won't get it perfect. I've had to do this on another car (coolant types got mixed). Best I could come up with was a Clorox mix. After I scrubbed it the best I could, I filled it up with about a 50/50 mix of Clorox Bleach and water. Did a pretty decent job of making it pretty again.

But if you want show-room quality, you may have to go new.

i ws just tired of being embarrased to open the hood LOL. the Castrol did a decent job of cutting the grease, enough that I can see the intake and valve covers area leaking oil, another project LOL

Im thinking of cleaning out mine when i install my 180 again this summer. Im gunna try some superclean or maybe some straight cooling system flush product. Something corrosive enough to remove the crap in there, but not enough to destory the plastic..would varsol do anything?

Half water, and half Lime-away worked well for mine. It did outgas as it reacted, so be careful. (I just put about a inch in the bottom of the bottle, as shock vigerously)

Of course, rinse very well!

Use carb cleaner with the jet tube on the end......spray it shake it spray it shake it...
all my greasy grundge came out...and when i say grundge i mean it....
do it in a well ventilated area as the fumes get to be a bit much...
but you can aim that tube nozzel right at the crab and blast it away

I when thru a tall can that had 25% free...
