Clearing Rear Tails & Tint
I already have my tails apart, mainly to fix the leak as they clearly held about a gallon of water each / /
Anyway I found that some of the chrome/reflective paint on the inside has peeled off and shows black under neath. Biggest question I have is what should I use to paint over that. We have some 'chrome bumper paint' but I don't think that'* what I'd wana use. Any suggestions?
Also I want to clear the Amber portion but I want to put a clear material to replace it so you dont just straight up see the bulb.

If it was in the brake section (Which some of it is) I wouldn't care since you would hardly see it anyway, and on top of that I'm VHT-ing that. However I clearing the turn signal, so you'll clearly see the black spots. (I'm going for driverjohn'* look)
Not too worried about the turn signals' reflectiveness, there are reflectors in the brake lenses and on the bumper cover.
Just wondered if anyone has dealt with this or knows a product to use.

If you really must paint it, I would use a metalizer paint, like they sell in hobby shops for military/car scale model kits. You will need an airbrush for that though. If you do this, try to find a brand called "Alclad", it'* the best.
They do sell metalizer paints in spray cans, but the cans are very small, and a bit expensive, but, if you don't have an airbrush, this would be the way to go. I would say aluminum plate metalizer would be the best, not chrome, since the reflective paint they use on the inside of those taillights is closer to aluminum than it is chrome.
I've never tried this, so I can't speak from experience. I do think if you HAD to repaint the reflective part of the taillight though, metalizers would work better than that bumper spray.
Also, if your going to clear the amber part of the taillight, try to get some LED replacement bulbs. The LEDs wouldn't be as noticeable as the regular bulbs.

I remember reading someone here used chrome paint on headlight reflectors and it killed the light output. When you apply it, better mask off all the good areas.

I have an extra tail light that the mounting studs were all broken on i'll test it out on that one and put a light to it and see how it comes out.
Other than that, as far as the tinting goes I want it to look glossy, so do I sand it between each coat? or just between the tint and clear? and what grit sand paper...i have 600 here at the house (which is the highest Lowes had in their inventory) How long should I wait to sand after applying a coat?
I have a piece of about 5"x6" plexiglas that I tested the VHT on. it doesn't look like 4 coats will quite do what I want, looks like 5 will satisfy me in hiding the delam effectively. But the can says 3 coats might not let the light through? So is 5 too dark? I can also use the extra uber crappy lens to tint and see how many coats I can actually go with.
IIRC its supposed to be light coats and let it sit i guess 3-4 minutes? I did really light coats (as-in 2 passes with the spray from like 10"-ish away)
One more thing that was mentioned was LED bulbs. There doesn't happen to be bulbs that will simply plug in are there? And if there is and modding required, no problem splicing a new plug on, but would LEDs trip the light monitor?

I tinted driverjohn'* tails, and he wanted them DARK. I would suggest NOT going that dark.
In addition, if you clear the lower, I suggest one or two LIGHT coats over the cleared section.
