Turtle Wax Ice question
Hi Folks,
The other week, Southern Ontario was enjoying some nice warm weather, so I decided to wash and Turtle Wax Ice (liquid type) my car.
It went on easily, but the instructions said to wait for it to haze. After several minutes, it did not haze, so I wiped it off. It came off feeling sort of oily.
Overall results were okay, but nothing great. I think my car needs a claybar treatment.
Here'* my question: I washed the car the other day, and dried it by hand. I noticed the car still had this oily slick all over it. I wiped it as much as possible, and the oily slick sort of shifted, and didn't come off. Any ideas? When I rub my finger over the car, I can feel it. It'* a greasy feel.
What have I done? :(

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you put the wax on too thick. You might want to remove it and try again. A claybar might work since you said you need it anyway. Otherwise you need a paint cleanser, or a 50/50 mix of water and rubbing alcohol will remove it. Remember, thin is better with waxes, where you can barely see it. Otherwise it doesn't cure properly and it'* a bear to remove. Do it thin, and do a second coat to ensure proper coverage. Also a second coat will probably make it look even better, but you don't really need any more than two coats.
Another thought, did you shake the bottle? Maybe there were some oils at the top that didn't mix and that'* what you have on the paint.

Oh yes, I shook it like a Polaroid picture.
That is good advice, perhaps I will remove it and try again. Hopefully that nice weather comes back!

Mine does that REAL bad with the paste, as well as with the liquid. I've used it on two cars, and I think I'm going to throw the stuff away. Only way I found to get rid of the oily/hazy look is to take the spray on ice wax and work that crap off. I'm back to Meguiars... not that turtle wax doesn't leave a brilliant shine, but a LOT of work to get that stupid hazy/oily look out.
