Default Bumper and paint

Hey guys sorry I've been absent from the site, but I've been busy with work and school and hanging out with friends.....anyways

*Edit* I recently found out I'm driving a 92 not a 93 SE.....so I thought I'd clear that up....the title and everything in the car says 92....

I need to know if the bumpers are plastic on my car because I plan on painting the words "Bonneville on my car to a metallic gold" to make it look sharper....also I am repainting the black paint on my door as it'* almost clear down to the medal.....if anyone could tell me if it'* plastic or not would be great....cuz I did the feel comparison from the fender to the bumper and couldn't tell

Thanks

I always thought these bumper covers are made from uerthane??? More of a rubber than a plastic.

'til you split one when somebody hits you in the parking lot with a trailer hitch, and doesn't tell you. Then you replace both license lights, do the best you can with the rear plate, replace the plastic cover over the plate, and procrastinate for a year on fixing the bumper itself.

That'* when you figure out it'* some sort of pretty darn flexible plastic of sorts. The FSM calls it out as plastic in the guide for body repairs. I'd have to look it up again. Regardless, you'll be painting over paint, but it does flex.

Well then I need to know how to prep the bumpers for paint. Because I plan on taking both bumpers off and repainting them.
