I've had both Optilux bulbs burn out around 1.5 years of moderate use, the halos seemed somewhat blue on my set, and now one'* burn out due to moisture, and the other one is cracked right down the middle.

Looking for projectors now.. :?

Most projector fogs I've seen are kinda small, and don't really do well on light output. The set Badnit bought (and I just got) seem to work well when you throw a set of 50W 8xx series bulbs in them, instead of the 37W stock bulbs (i think it'* 37W).

Next will be looking into how well a HID kit would work in them. Gotta make sure the beam pattern stays the same, otherwise they'll be useless.

the projectors that are designed for halogen, and NOT to be used with a HID bulb

Wrong!

If the Pattern is right and the Cut off is good. there is nothing wrong with useing them

And its not cuz they cant take the heat cuz HIDs burn cooler

All that matters is that the bulb and the filament lines up good and the light out put pattern is good.

yea yea yea... i know i know....

But, some projectors adapt to HID kits well. For instance, I know that most projectors that use a H7 bulb, you get the D2S to H7 adapter ring, and they DO actually put out a very good beam pattern.

Someone on here stuck a set of H9 bulbs in these, and they looked good. H9'* use a filament that is 90 deg. to the 800 series. Normally that yields crappy output, but, it looks like these may adapt well to it.

I had a set of H3 burners in a set of halogen projectors. The beam pattern wasn't too bad, but they were crappy projectors anyway... No glare, just not very even light, kinda splotchy. It was brighter than 100W clear halogens tho.

Just because a Housing or Projector is Made for one thing doesn't mean you CAN NOT use it for something else

All that matter in lighting is that the Pattern is good and that is a good cut off and your not going to blind people,

Yes there are not ment to be used it HIDs but who says that cant

IE, one set of my Bros headlight that are not projectors and are ment for halogen bulbs work pretty well with HIDs in them

And also look what rob put in these Projectors, they are ment for 894'* he put in H9'* the filament is a different direction nd they are awesome!
