you tinted the reverse lamp area... :buttkick:

phatklan 01-10-2008 11:44 PM

you can see the reverse lights just fine when the light is one

...emoticon=LMAO!...nice tint but i think you need to buff them up to match the shine of the car...just my 2 cents.

willwren 01-11-2008 07:33 AM

Don't buff them. It'll remove the VHT.

You need to add a couple coats of clearcoat to seal them and match the finish of the car.

Then remove the Jeff Gordon sticker from your rear quarter window, and you'll be all set.

harofreak00 01-11-2008 11:56 AM

I would really suggest removing the VHT on the reverse lamp area before clearing them.

PRD2BDF 01-11-2008 12:02 PM

Looks great! Good job!

phatklan 01-11-2008 02:25 PM

it all ready has 2 coats of satin clear coat as it says in my first post. i like the satin look better then the gloss really , and whats wrong with the reverse lights?

xyeLz 01-11-2008 03:34 PM

tails look good :)

now take those stickers off AHDHWHDJAWDHJWKGAdAW!!!

incognegro 01-11-2008 05:55 PM

BTW, i was using the term 'buff' loosely..i'll be more specific next time!

John Deere Boy 01-11-2008 09:21 PM

I like it! If the cops don't bust ya for tinted brake lights, i doubt they'll care about tinted reverse lights. I wouldn't worry about it.

phatklan 01-11-2008 11:24 PM

the law is as long as u can u see red illuminated from 500 ft ur good

93-SSE 01-12-2008 01:48 AM

the reverse light problem would be more of can you see at night when reversing?

but that looks good 8)

Plurr 01-12-2008 02:38 AM

haha I love it...tinting the reverse light area looks great!
I wouldn't have it any other way......

I like the look on your car...definitely makes it stand out, looks great with green, sorry to say this but I will have to second the sticker removal to make the look complete...I'm still not sure why it turned out with a matte finish, I did not clear coat mine, but waited a while between applications and went pretty light on the coatings, it may be due to the plastic being different because I have SSE tails....anyways your car looks really great with the tinted tails

I tinted my reverse lights as well! I think this is on the verge of being illegal... However, the last time I was pulled over, even though I had police lights on the rear floorboard and the tinted tail lights, no mention of either was made.

The car's been cleaned since then. I think you've done a fine job with your tail lights, and this is the third or fourth vote so far that you remove this sticker. Here are some proper blingy things:

Nice work on the satin finish!

willwren 01-12-2008 10:27 AM

Radomir, your tails are misaligned.

The issue with the reverse lights isn't necessarily a legal issue. It's primarily a functional issue. Tinting over that WILL reduce your available light for backing, and even more so after you tint the rear and side windows.

EWC88 01-12-2008 11:19 AM

Is your taillights like a flat black look? or does it have that shine to it? Also can you post a pic of the bottle of VHT you use? I don't get why mine came out flat black, so I gotta re-do it and wonder if its the brand of VHT

willwren 01-12-2008 12:16 PM

It's supposed to come out like that, then you clear it. Both my sets are cleared and are as shiny as both cars.

There is only one shade of VHT nite-shades. You did use the nite-shades, and not regular VHT paint, right?

EWC88 01-12-2008 12:35 PM

I used this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VHT-N...spagenameZWDVW

I have to comment on the tail light aligning thing, but it will help this thread. That picture is from late this past summer. They were misaligned, and I found it important to tighten the nuts very evenly so that this doesn't happen. If you need to take off the tail lights again, have at it evenly and carefully.

phatklan 01-13-2008 08:09 PM

well i never took them off i just masked it off cause i was to lazy to mess with it lol
