Just picked up a new buffer/polisher, a microfiber bonnet, and some gold class liquid wax. I have always used the paste before...but i want to see how this works out. I read this article: http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/post/5408.aspx on the proper ways to polish a car. I have a 3 step kit from Megs for polishing (what Sol used). Anybody else have any advice. I have used a buffer on my car several times before, but I wasnt following the correct steps, so I wasnt getting the best results. So, any advice/tips? (other than use LG)

Strip it first, then use two coats of Liquid Glass (over 2 days), then use the Mequiar'* the 3rd day. Mequiars sux in comparison to LG, so use the LG as a basecoat.

like i said, lets try non LG suggestions please.

I suggested using it as a basecoat, and using the Meg over it.

Use the METHODS that Mequiars gave you with the kit. Don't expect their PRODUCTS to last more than 30 days.

Sorry to break it to you, but you won't get very good results from that buffer. All it'* really good for is waxing. The problem is that it'* too large, and doesn't have the power to do proper correction. You need a smaller pad size to concentrate the pressure (unless you get a rotary). You will be able to get the paint looking much better than by hand, but don't expect to remove any swirls or scratches.

As far as wax, carnauba wax (liquid or paste) is usually best for looks, while sealants (like LG) will give you the most durability. Collinite is one exception to the rule, as their waxes last months.

Or get some S100 from Harley Davidson and your set IMO it is just as good if not better then LG
