Spoiler Mounting
OK, So I was lucky enough to win a spoiler today, (thanks ebay) and its already the right color and has all the mounting hardware. Should we mount it ourselves, or take it someplace? It seems like I'd have a hard time doing it. Or is it pretty simple? Just marking and drilling some holes???
Any input would be great! Thanks. |
Mark, drill, mount, seal holes. That's it.

good powerful drill, and correct sizes of bits.. maybe an awl for center punching the holes...

After you look under your trunk lid (remove carpet if you have it) and remove the plastic plugs, you'll see where you need to drill in comparison to the spoiler.
I think you'll make your decision fairly easily when the spoiler comes. I tiny bead of silicone caulking around each hole on the trunk lid will help give you some peace of mind during install, and for extra measure, do the same on the under-side before the nuts go on. Get that lid good and clean first. A 14V Quality cordless drill should be enough. And I agree with center-punching and pilot-drill (small, perhaps 1/8) to start with on each hole to prevent bit-wandering. Put some paper or an old towel down in the trunk to catch the shavings, and maybe put a magnet under the trunk lid to keep them from getting between the trunk lid panels. |

I suppose we should be able to get it on somehow...we have lots of access to every tool imaginable so I'd rather NOT pay somebody.
Thanks for all the helpful...help. And yes Twister, I am a 'newbie'. Thanks for making me feel so WELCOME. |

Call me a sheep then!!!! The day I pulled up to look at my car for the first time, I said "oh hey, really nice...where the hell is the spoiler???"
