It finally got to the point where moisture was getting into the headliner and dripping on the front seat, floor. Not a lot of drops, but even one is too many.
I took it to some body shops for estimates and the best estimate was $900.31 (mostly labor).
The owner took one look at my car and new the year, make and model. I thought that was impressive. They have been around for 40 years, its a clean place. I trust them. It'* going in on the 26th, they will have it for 3 days.
I know many of you would tackle this job on your own, but for several reasons, I will have them do it:
1. He is going to make it look like new again. (I couldn't do that)
2. $900.00 is cheaper than buying a new car.
3. I wouldn't want to sell it in this condition anyway.
4. The car has special meaning. It was sold to me by my father after my mother died suddenly; It was her car.

Installing a windshield isn't like it used to be. It takes special primer to bond the adhesive to the glass and the vehicle. (I forgot what he called it) Some sort of plastic... polyurethane... adhesive. I told him how I used to work in Auto glass repair 20 years ago and he said it has changed drastically, that it can't be done that same way anymore because of the strict government regulations. The windshield is made not to come out in the case of an accident. It is a structual support for the roof of the car.

ANYWAY...I ramble.....I will post "after" pictures when the job is done.

He did a great job. Smooth as brand new. I can't even tell where he blended the old and new paint. I give him a passing grade, but I see where the glass guy scratched my hood while removing and installing. Most of it buffed out though.

mine had the same.. as does vital'*...

i tried fixing mine without touching the windshield.. i made it visually better. but not much after that..

thats good you can get it fixed
