Rocker Panel Rust - '99 Grand Prix

My son has a 1999 Grand Prix GT. He says that on the passenger side, under the doors, the cladding is starting to come loose. Apparently, whatever it attaches to is rusting away. So far, it's still attached at the front and back.

Any GP guys experience this, and found a good repair?

experienced? yes. my 97 gtp was missing most of the passenger side, and part of the driver.

fix? cut and weld would be best. bondo if money is tight.

OK, thanks. The way he talked, it doesn't sound as if there is much left there for bondo. Sounds like some new metal time. Thanks again.

I sold mine the way it was, but I know several people who have re-welded theirs. The panels hadn't fallen yet on mine.

That will make him feel a bit more comfortable, I think. The rest of it is in pretty decent shape, save for a bit of rust on the hood and trunk. Some of the underside is pretty rusty, in particular those areas where it seems to trap moisture.
