Cosmetic rims
Hey there,
So ive been thinking that i need some new wheels. This is mainly because my current set is corroded pretty bad and im leaking air everywhere. Also with that i need new tires as mine are bald and winter is coming. So i know this is going to e an expensive adventure. I was thinking about sizing up my wheels to 17 and getting black rims (my Bonnie is black). I was just wonderin what anyones thoughts were about the black rims on the car. And also with stepping up and i going to have to recal the spedo? Thanks for your responses in advance!

I think the black-on-black would look great. Why not take a picture of the current set up and do a photoshop mockup to see what it would look like? If you don't have photoshop (or some sort of imaging software) send it to me and I will see what I can do.

I was on the Discont website and they have a thing you can use to look at them. It looked good. I currently dont have a photo of my car (disappointing i know). Not to mention the current rims look horrible (i blame the stupid break dust)

Oh man, you gotta get pics. What is the sense of fixing up your ride if you can't share before and after pictures. Horrible before pictures just make the after pictures look better.

O trust me i will get some pics before i change them out. She may be a little older but she still loves to go! except the unbelievably bald tires that causes me to loose traction almost immediatly on a wet day. As we often have in Michigan

I guess I'm in the minority. I don't like wheels that match the body color. I like a car to have strikingly different colors. I do like black with other colors, mainly lighter colors like white, yellow, red. I prefer a nice chrome rim with black. Oh, and I really don't like the dark graphite colored wheels. To me they look like they are dirty with brake dust.

As to recalibrating the speedo... that is an option... but there are other alternatives... choosing the right tire size can actually set it right on or so close you dont need to worry. you can go to here - Tire Size Calculator | Will These Tires Fit? - compare your stock tires to what kind of tires you can mount to your 17s and match them up to save on have the speedo recalibrated.
just an option to look into
- TL
ps: I know its to a different forum site but its one of the best ive encountered so thats why i chose it... plus its really easy to use and very informative
