BRAKE DUST!!!!!!!!!!!
can anyone recomend a wheel cleaner that works, everytime i buy spray on liquid wheel cleaner it doesnt work, i always have to get down there and scrub the black dust off with a rag, and then the next day the wheels are just as dirty, is there some kind of brake dust repellent i can coat my rims with, thanks

How long do you go without cleaning them? Every product I've tried works fine. You do have to keep up on them, BUT I now use Orange Blast wheel cleaner made by Greased Lightning (have used it for a couple years). It actually does seem to keep my wheels cleaner longer. And I have the crosslaces which are a pain to clean. I cleaned them about 2 weeks ago and they still are not that dirty. You will still need to scrub a little with a brush. No wheel cleaner will simply get rid of all brake dust by spraying it on.
Make sure you clean the wheel when they are cool. If you spray this stuff on when they are hot it will be harder to clean.

walk though an auto parts cleaning isle...you will see products that claim to repel brake dust. I cant tell you how well they work because IMO cleaning rims is easier than a lot of other car things.
You could get a soft brush on a long handle so you dont have to get as low to scrub the dust off.

ok, well i just replaced my brake pads, not the ceramic ones, so that could be a factor, but i will use ceramic ones next time, i am not hard on my brakes ever and the day after i had them looking like new they look dark gray, and they are bright silver, so idk

Did you change your own pads? If so, did you have your rotors cut? If not, where they smooth? Is it possible you got pads that are slightly larger then the old set and they are rubbing in a different area? This could wear your pads fast and explain the excesive dust. Check your pads to see if anything looks strange. I have stock pads on mine and dusting is not a problem.

i am starting to think that it may be my style of wheels, they are 01 grand am gt wheels, maybe the shape of them or the material is just right for catching brake dust?

I doubt it has much to do with the shape of the wheels. There is a lot of negative space in those rims. My crosslace rims pick up more brake dust than anything else. Those rims are painted right? What condition are they in, is the finish smooth? If the clear coat is coming off and/or the surface is rough the brake dust could stick to them more.

yeah they are painted silver and they are very smooth, the care came with steel wheels and hubcaps which brakedust cant get to, so the car wasnt made to have rims, so maybe GM left something out that limits the brakedust on bonnevilles that have wheels.
i wish i had 4-wheel drum, my backs never get dirty!!!
