Paint falling off the hood and decklid problem

Is this common or an isolated incident?

Car is a 95 w/SLE package, white in color.

The previous owner said the top was already repainted due to flaking paint, and now the hood and trunk are also peeling/flaking...

Was there ever a recall on this or anything?

My 95 Black SLE was jut beginning to lose the clear coat on he spoiler when I sold it at around 190,000 miles. My car was garage kept at home and I had covered parking at work.

My car is low mixed mileage (61,000) and it's not from rock chips or anything like that, if that's what you were wondering. Mine's flaking at the part of the hood closest to the windshield, and the trunklid between the spoiler and rear bumper cover...

My car has been sitting next to the house for about three weeks. Noticed the paint starting to flake off even more.

how is it peeling?

the peeling on the hood...is it peeling from the metal or the paint layer below...if it's peeling off the paint below it is most likely due to the fact that the last painter didnt sand the suface well enough and now that the paint has cured more (this can take a very long time) the paint will want to shrink. If it has bad adheation it will peel like your descibing. If it's peeling off the metal then to might want to check carfully to see if your getting rust because that will also force the paint to let go and peel.

On my 95 it was the clearcoat on the spoiler only that started to go and I thought it was from the grit in the air and the speeds of 60+ on the freeways that did the damage.
