To do it right I am going to guess anywhere from $6000-$10000.

Hmmmm...not quite what I had in mind hahaa.
Ok then how much does JUST the paint cost so I can do it myself?
I have some experience in painting cars.

Enought to do what you want, including primer, color, candy/flake, and clear will run you about 800 bucks. Probably more.

Enough primer, color, and clear for my 2 hoods was over $250 with a pretty heavy discount.

Well I was expecting it to cost around 800-1000 because I know Kandy paint isn't cheap.
But I thought to have a shop do it would be like 4000 MAX.

But nothing is cheap when it comes to cars.
I remember when I went to get my old Grand Prix repainted (same color) and the guy told me anywhere between 10 000 and 12 000.
Needless to say, we don't go to him anymore.

The best quote I had on hood paint locally was 600. That didn't include the vents or the 'custom' work I did.

That'* why I did it myself. For less than half the cost.

If you are going to do it yourself then everything changes. This isn't the best paint but it is kandy urethane and will get the job done. It is on the main page, first kit listed. $329+shipping. I use their epoxy primer and it is a great value, one of the only primers that doesn't follow the "get what you pay for" rule. However with the paint it is said that you do get what you pay for. Still though that is a lot of product for $329. If you are skilled in painting it will come out looking killer regardless of the paint. I just wouldn't count on it 5+ years from now but who knows it mays still look great.

Thanks for the link. It does look really good but you're right; you do get alot of product for that price.
So you put the silver base on then the kandy color?
I'm just worried about it because I don't necessarily want to screw it up
But I'll look into it. We already have the gear to paint and everything.
