McGard Lug Nuts

Took me going to 4 PEP Boys stores but I finally found 5 packs of the 4602 McGard lug nuts. No big deal as all of the store visits were incorporated into my travels during the week. I had painted my calipers and took off my wheels for the first time. I realized I wanted something more that the chrome lug nut covers that came with my Bonneville.

The cost at PEP Boys is $7.88 a pack of 4 so you will need 5 packs. Summit has them for $9.95 a pack. The good point is you only have one item to remove instead of the cap and a lug nut. The bad, for me , was my lug nut wrench would not work to tighten them up, not a deep enough recess, which is no big deal because I used a deep well socket and a torque wrench to install them.

I think the visual gain is minimal and will only be noticed by you. It boils down to was it worth the $42.00, includes tax, to replace? Over time I believe it is due to the less hassle when rotating tires and the possibility of lost lug nut caps.

Here are the pictures enjoy.

Looks really good, I need to do something like that since I've lost one lug cover and another is cracked and just waiting to bail at the next pot hole

They look good.
Did it say whether they were triple chromed or not??? Is there a replacement guarantee IF the chrome peels???

The finish looks "fuller" with the real ones vs the cheesy plastic ones

Not really plastic but a thin metal cap that screws on to the lug nut itself. The original does not look bad it is just a PITA to deal with when changing tires. Is it worth $42? I believe the answer depends on how much of a hassle it is to you and the extra time it takes when rotating your tires.

I think you have to look hard to see a lot of differance, I like that you don't have to deal with those stupid cheesy plastic caps
