I know some of you have done this, but I thought I'd toss it out there again, since I just did it:





Some use paint pens. I masked, and I'll lightly buff the top surface and either use a high-temp clear, or simple detailing spray when done. That'* exhaust manifold/header paint, so it should hold up to the temps quite well. Haven't decided to do the rear or not. It'* visible on the Series 1, but not very well.

You know there is a Dupli-Color paint that works great in high heat situations. I used the Metalcast system on my engine cover and I haven't had any problems. I have noticed that the valve covers are plastic and do not get as hot as normal valve covers. It will probably cost around $12.00-$15.00 for the bottom coat and for the paint itself. I didn't do my back cover either.

Gotta do something while I wait for parts. Both valve covers are done now. Fuel injectors are done. Exhaust manifolds are done, lower intake is done........need something else to do....

Clean up all the casting masks on everything so you can keep it clean easier.

Already done. And it'* sealed. Easy cleaning from now on. Both are done. Engine detailing spray (baked on) seals the pores, keeping the grime out. That'* been ONE of my secrets for a couple years.

Clean the inside of your rims for reduced unsprung mass.

Flush the cooling system.

Remove the PS bracket and clean that slimy bastard.

Clean all your ICM related grounds for more power.

Design a billet oil filler cap with your monogram on it

Remove the radiator sheild (at the top) and clean under it.

Wash you cooling fan blades for increased efficiency.

chase all the threads.

Clean the top of the tranny.

Clean the side of the block while you have the exhaust out of the way.

Clean under the battery.

Undercoat.

Paint your wheelwells flat black.

Clean inside the front of the rear wheelwells so rust isn't a problem.

My car isn't dirty, I don't have grime, we don't get rust, cuz we don't use salt in the winter, and rubber undercoating works better in the wheelwells than flat black.
