Default Terrible paint chipping?

Ok, back about 4 or so years ago, before I knew alot about the H & C body..or just about any GM car for that matter, I always thought that the mid 90s models had a problem with their roof'* paint having a severe chipping problem? for example, say, the movie Mystic River in particular in my mind, features a Buick LeSabre IIRC that has this exact problem.

And now blownville posting with that white car brought back the same memory of that, but since joining the club, I've yet to see ANYONE complain about bad paint on the mid 90s bonnes at all! So whats the deal? Am I hallucinating?

I figured general would be fitting because it states all things bonneville and other related cars, and this was about H&C bodies in general! But hey, I guess detailing and appearance works just fine as well. (back on topic!)

'works just fine'?

Read the Forum descriptions. And follow the example others lead you with. You'll find all the painting topics here, unless someone is whoring up the finished work in Your Ride.

The idea here is that new members will actually search for answers to their problems, and may try to narrow the search results down by the section they know (by reading the descriptions) their results are most likely to be found.

John, both of my 1990'* are badly BADLY faded. Its down to the primer in large spots on mine and the roof and trunklid completely on my wifes. I always figured that looks didnt make it go, they arent garage queens so it doesnt bother me.

Maybe the ones here with nice rides got in on the paint recall or were lucky.

Every late 80'* to early 90'* GM, Chrysler and Toyota product I have ever owned or seen has the clearcoat sun-burned off in spots on the hood, roof and trunk. I don't know if it'* just age, or the composition of the clearcoat used by these mfgr'* in those days...but this problem doesn't seem as prevalent in my experience in other major car makes (Ford, Honda, any European).

My 95 has a chip problem on the roof and trunk lid. Was going to repaint it but got busy with other things. Around my area it has a lot to do with location, we get some bad acid rain in cities near me and all cars end up having problems.
