Front turn signals
I was looking at ways to put leds in my turn signals and tail lights but the biggest limitation is that the plastic is fluted, and not clear(87-91) But in the front turn signals, the amber part is clear and theres a ribbed clear plastic piece inside that diffuses the light. If i could take the light apart I could remove the clear plastic and voila! clear (amber) turn signal. But the plastic on the edges seems to be fused together. Is it just glue or is it plastic welded together? Has anyone taken one of these lights apart successfully? I broke a damaged one I had and I threw it out a long time ago so i cant experiment with it. Does anyone have any recommendation on how to take it apart and remove the clear plastic?

That only applies to 92+, the lights on the 87-91 are differant.

:duh: D'oh!!!

i tried soaking the light in hot water, but it didnt do anything. Do I have to use boiling water? I could cut the light open if it came down to it but ide reall rather not...

someone told me you could put it in the oven for a while to get it open -- didn't try it so i dont know if it works or not

I pulled the tail lights apart, not the front turn signals. I looked at them before and found the same thing... plastic welded together. I think I have one in my basement so I'll have to take a closer look but I do think it will be more difficult than the 92-99.
I'll take a look tonight |
Sorry...my bad.
