Cleaning Crosslace Corrosion

Hello fellow Bc forum members :D , well after posting in the wanted section and searching numerous posts looking to buy gold crosslace rims, i finally found them. Luckily i pm'ed a member in the ontario area that was parting out his bonneville and all worked out. The rims are in great shape no curb rash.....but their is corrosion on the outer lip, now i would like to ask what is the best way of taking care of this corrosion. Im sure many people have their own methods and i would be glad to hear them.

The current method im thinking about is sanding down the outer lip with a 80 grit paper and then finishing them off with a 400 grit...and then simply add the clear coat.

Im up for any method that works with best results. Thank you.

Not sure how bad or deep your blemishs go, but I would try an sos pad first, it wont buff out rust totaly but will clean it up to reaccess it.

Well they where pretty bad..well two of them anyway. I just sanded them down with some 80 grit.....going to add the clear coat tommorow morning.

Anybody know how long it takes for clear coat to cure?? Can states five days.

Started with an 80...finishing off with a 320 :D

Finally cleaned up the wheels and finished with the 320 grit...did the 2 layer clear coat...dried....put them on the lesabre and god damn i have never seen a lesabre look this good. gonna take it for a test drive in 2 hours. Will post pictures after test drive.

Again i would like to thank the bc forum and its members for the amount of information they have provided for my modification, again thank you.
