I decided to change out the dim orange LED'* with some red ones so it flows better with the rest of the car. Anyone ever try these? I got them for $2 each at Radio Shack today. Super easy, cheap, and clean.

I had to shave the edges of the lense slightly so they'd slide into the hole, but not much at all.


No installed pics yet, but they look way cooler than the dim orange. They're not blinding by any means, but they could still pass as stock which is cool too. I'll have more pics when I convert the ECC from green to blue - should be by the end of the week.

I replaced mine with uv leds or "blacklight" and it looks really cool, its adds a cool glow and if you wear anything that is blacklight reactive it glows.

if you would have used just a regular LED. you could have used the resistors already in there.. no extra wiring..

I wonder how bright they'll be at night, so far only two people have noticed that dim orange light in my car. Nobody can find that door handle at night.

Haha, I'm retarded It looked like it was soldered in and I didn't think that retainer had a resistor for some reason - oh well, $4 mistake...but I'm keeping it as is since I like how it looks. I can always go back if I want to change colors now too.

They're definitely brighter. Easy to see the controls now.

i did the same thing about a year ago with the Red...only i used a regular LED and a resistor....mine are hella bright...just how i wanted them.....I think its a great mod

No kidding. After even doing it the "hard way", I can't see why anyone would want to put up with those dim orange lights! I'm surprised it took me this long actually.

some people like the extra dark interior. When I drive at night I often turn off all the dash lights and flop down my HU faceplate so it goes out....completely dark inside.

I'm waiting on the film yet, but this is what I'm doing. I only have the ECC that'* green since I'm no 'Ei. Green is ok I guess, but I thought a new color would be a nice change of pace.

Here'* why it'd be hard to change the color of the buttons:

It almost looks like clear plastic with a coat of red light diffuser and a coat of gray on top of that, but I'm not sure.
