You'll have to take off the parts of your car that you want to replace with the kit parts. You'll have to get sheet metal to match these, and go from there. Find a good time to take apart your car and see.

Be prepared to spend alot of money on someting custom like this unless you can do all of the work yourself.

That much fiberglass would not be cheap, then there is labor and don't forget paint. Even then, you put all that work into it and you might actually hate it. That is the downside to not being able to see it on another car beforehand.

I would put a VERY rough estimate for a properly done custom body kit and paint and labor to be at least $2,000 and that is probably way low



My opinion?
You already have a quick car. I would spend the money on go fast mods ( www.Intense-racing.com ) first and have a very quick car that will surprise the crap out of many people.... especially those tuner cars ;)


Don't forget... there are rims, tint, clear corners, other random touch up stuff that you can do to your car to REALLY make it stand out in the crowd. Believe me... Bonneville's are everywhere out here, but our '03 SSEi is stock appearance except clear headlights and dark tint, and it really stands out in the crowd. Also, keeping it clean will be a huge +1 for standing out and not looking like everyone else's car.

As far as being into tuner cars? I would never make fun of anyone for their interests. I too am interested in the cars, although I would never own one. I believe that is part of being a true car guy is that you can understand other peoples interests in their cars even if they don't understand yours ;)

I second that. But I do have an idea. I'm very close to going through with the rice burner idea depicted in the thread I've started. I'll make a body kit for it, and everyone here will then know how to do this for other cars. Here's a link:

That's what I thought the price would be around. Well if I were to do it, I was planning on doing it around next spring (April, maybe May) so I'd definitely have that amount and trust me, pretty much every penny I have, I'm willing to put into my car. ;)

If I were to go around town, searching body shops, could they give me a mold or something and I could pay them to do it? Or if I knew how, I could get a few friends and build it. Like I'm not quite sure what kind of work is needed to make/install a body kit. Especially for a Bonneville.

And for performance mods: I already have an aftermarket intake, and I am soon going to buy a new exhaust system. But after that, I can't see myself doing much more to improve it's performance. I know I'm not supposed to talk about street racing here but I already can spank those tuners racing around at night. It's quite funny actually cause they get pretty pissed.
And pretty much everything else you've said I've already done: clear corners, 20" rims, HID headlights.
I just need something that'll REALLY define my car.

Actually, if you are going to have a shop do the work... expect MUCH more money then that. Most good shops will easily get $60.00 per hour for labor. They would also have to go through much trial and error before they get a design that looks right on the car.


I would maybe suggest seeing if someone can do a photoshop for you. find a couple pics of cars that have a kit that you like, and make sure they are close to the same angle as a pic of your car. post up all the pics and see if someone can come up with something interesting 8)

We actually get MANY people here wanting bodykits for our cars, but nobody really wants to spend the money it would require to make one up. Remember, you would need a front bumper cover, all four door moldings, both rocker moldings, and a rear bumper cover for a full body kit. That would require eight different custom molds....

Well I was just thinking about doing the front and rear bumpers. The skirts already have a pretty nice design to them as is.
But I'll try to get good angle pictures for PS purposes.

money can be spent better elsewhere in my opinion.

could it be possibly done that you take a premade body kit, and then cut it apart and have someone fiberglass the missing sectiions together so that it fits on your car? just an idea :idea:
