Best way to clean Leather seats from the wrecker ?
 

I grabbed some Leather seats from the wrecker today and they are Really Dirty.
I also went and grabbed some Mothers Leather Cleaner & Mothers Leather Conditioner.

Anyone use Mothers ? Are their Leather products any good ?

I was thinking of trying to clean the rough of the crap off them first before using these products on them, cause I don't want to seal the dirt into the Leather.

Can anyone suggest a way to clean the rough off of them first ? OR should I just use the Mothers Cleaner ?

Any suggestions would be Great,

Hmm...first off, use Murphy's oil soap to get all the crud off. Follow up with a trip to your local shoe shop and get some Kiwi products. I have had wonderful success with Saddle Soap, and then afterwards use Mink Oil to replenish the leather. Once it has softened up you should be able to use the automotive stuff of your choice.

If the seats were protected from the elements fairly well, you could probably get away with just the auto stuff. But if it has sat outside for a spell or two, it wouldn't hurt it at all to use the Kiwi products.

I agree. I wouldn't use saddle soap as a normal maintenance product, but as a 'once and a while' restorative product. It does a nice job of making sure everything is VERY clean before you seal grime into the seat with a good mink oil, or other rejuvinatior.

Ok I grabbed some Murphy's Oil Soap from Wally World (Walmart).
I looked for Saddle Soap while I was there but they didn't carry it, I'll have to try a shoe store.
What is Saddle Soap & what does it do to the leather ?

Soap for a (leather) Saddle & cleans it? :D

Kiwi brand comes in a flat round tin, like big shoepolish. It looks milky, but once you spread it on (with a rag) in loosens any surface gunk, and you essentially scrub it off with a clean rag. It will pull all the stuff out off the pores you can see, and those you can't. Just like claybarring paint, it cleans 'real good' and prepares the surface for moisturizing and protection.
