Default Paint flaking/peeling

Can someone point me in the direction of a similar thread for this problem? Don't want to get into trouble for dupe threads.
Thx

I'm assuming you mean the good old "GM Flakey Paint". Heres a thread you can read through. If that ain't it, ask away!!

Default 1995 Bonneville paint peeling/flaking

Got a Bonnie here, all white, and the paint is peeling or flaking off in some areas. Sometimes I can take a small knive and peel square inches off at a time. Is their a fix, or remedy for this? Last year, I sanded down an area and repainted it. Seems to have worked for now anyway. Can the whole car be painted over without the new stuff flaking off too? Thx for any info.

I had the same basic problem. I have a 96 but also white. Paint shop said the factory primer/paint had poor adhesion properties which is why it flaked.

edit: upon closer looking at the picture it looks like parts of the roof were patched before.

yea, I did a shoddy patch job. Just something to do one weekend. Wasn't all that bad then. Now its really bad. Maybe if I wait a little bit longer, the shop won't have to do that much work. Just sand, wash and paint. lol

god dman, id be real pissed, especially the roof, if you have to get it repainted theyll have to blend in the rear quarters and what not, that really terrible is that a common problem with the white?

Seems pretty common... didn't effect 93 though..Pat'* paint held on well when they tried to beat the car down.
