Any tips for removing pinstriping and smoking tail lights?

I was wondering if there is a proper way to remove pinstriping since mine is slowly coming off, and if anyone has "smoked out" there tail lights because I am considering that as well.

If the pinstripe is tape, don't use a razor blade you will scratch the paint. Try a heat with heat gun or a hair blow dryer. Heat the strip up then pull to remove. Use an adhesive remover like DeSolve it for any remaining glue.

A good coat of wax would be a good idea after using the DeSolve it or equivalent adhesive remover.

The paint WILL be a different color where the pinstripe was. So..be forewarned!

Ok sounds good but how noticable will the change in the paint color be?

The only way to find out is to pull a small piece of pin striping off. You'll find that the pain under the stripe is not oxidized and will be darker.

So does anyone got anything about smoking out out my taillights?

I kinda like the smoked tail lights, but you will end up with a big problem like your pinstriping if your going to keep the car for years. Goes on easy, dont try to take it off.

have you done the pinstriping yet if not stop! dont try the heat gun way easier and better way overall. go to discount auto get the 5in backing plate for a drill cover with a terry cloth attachment apply maguires scratch x (clearcoat safe) or 3m scratch remover also clearcoat safe. wash car (i keep it slightly wet just to keep a good piece of mind about not messing anything up) apply scratch x to drill plate slowly go over to spread scratch x then kick it up and apply light pressure not only will it remove the pin but also years of roadgrime bugs tar sap my paint looks brand new i can post some pics if you so chose but this is way easier and will make your entire car shine like she was new
