for the price of the Silverstar and the reliability (in the fogs only) it is waaaay better to get a aftermarket set of fog/driving lights.....the cyberwhite Navigators and the Hella Angel eyes are the recommended brands that we have found to work

whats this about reliablility? what would you recomend? and prices? im just looking for a easy swap. and cheapest.
i got silverstar 9006's in the lows and love them (minus striping one of the screws and the right light being a lil loose)

John...for some reason the typical thing we see when putting SS's into the fog lights is a pretty quick rate of death. Whether it's the solidity of the housing or the way it's made...something doesn't treat the bulbs well.

I didn't know this was a known issue. I have the same year and trim as you and got SS fever. Both of the SSs pooped out in the foglamps after 3 and 4 months. It wasn't something I had interest to upgrade the whole units at the time so i put the 10 yr old oEMs back in. Fine.

Can't explain except maybe the SSs can't handle the greater vibration from low road particle impact. My SS headlights are doing fine. Might try some recognized blue zenons.

But if you want to do the good job, the guys' recommendations above are spot on as usual. Those Angel eyes are cool.

The 893 is 37.5 watts. The 880 is 27 watts. If you can find them the 886 is 50 watts. All three will fit your fog lamp housing.

I agree with others in that our sock fog lamp set up is pretty worthless. Aftermarket is the way to go. Most on this forum prefer Angle Eyes. Other members have installed different options for fog and driving lamps.

Use the search engine as some members have posted really good articles on how to custom fit after market fog lamps for your Bonneville.

the AE's can be used with the stock fog light brackets with a little modification....its easy....

as for the cost they are around $55 in stores, they are much cheaper on Ebay tho

BillBoost37 12-27-2006 01:05 PM

I believe I found a set on Ebay for $35 and so did Black94SSEi. They are very easy, they fit into the stock brackets with a slight tweak of the side tabs on the brackets.
