8500K fog lights

I was wondering, is there anything I can do to increase the voltage on the fogs to make them look as blue as the headlights. Im really not a big fan of my headlights and fog lights being different colors. or is there a fog light out there that looks as blue as the 8500K's? thanks

Voltage has nothing to do with the color temp. Color is determined by filament, the type of gas the bulb is filled with, and the coating applied to the bulb.

Moving to Detailing and Appearance.

ok i hear ya loud and clear but then why arent the bulbs turning the same color as the headlights when there both 8500K and if my running lights have 8500K in them and they dont turn blue untill they are on high beam? I figured it was because the high beams are getting more voltage then the runnings lights since they are the same bulbs. I could be wrong...

Different materials is possible. LIght refracts through different types of plastic differently, as well as differently through glass and different types of plastic. Even different types of glass.

because they are illegal...

The real question is why do you want light output at a color temperature anything more than 4300k ???

4100-4300 is white.

well i liked the blue look and thats was what i was trying to go for. Just a preference...

Likely the only way you will find a mtching blue is to go on ebay and look for the bluest bulb possible.

yeah thats what i was thinking...

actually, if you refer to the kevil scale, you'll find it more pure around the 5000-5500ish level, there is a lot of yellow at the level you've mentioned, they may appear more white at dusk/night but just bright yellow in the day.

you also run 8500k in your high beam fitment correct? I do believe you can find them on
http://www.automotivelightingusa.com but as suggested in the "Kelvin Scale" thread below, running somehting that blue wouldn't be good for vision. I'd suggest 50-5500k becasue white looks a helluv a lot better than yellow and provides way more light than blue would be able to.

this is along the lines of something you are looking for? what bulb are you running for your lowbeam? anyway, this will have everything you or anyone else is interested in as far as automotive lighting is concerned.

Hey Anthony do you still have stock housings?
Before I got my hella housings I had some different bulbs in my stock housings and they started to melt them. They were really blue. I would get some new housings if you dont have them before you buy bulbs.

leftd90 05-21-2007 12:38 PM

so your saying new fog light housings? i didnt think of that.. what blue fogs where you runnin?

looong4 05-22-2007 12:53 AM

I would, the stock housings suck for output anyways. I was useing some off ebay...Looked great until I noticed it melting the lense. You can have the bukbs if you want... :D
