Different Body style years/generations of Bonnes
I was wondering what different years would be different Bonneville generations and being a member of the new school crowd I do not know much about them previous to the 80s......can anyone tell me what years were the different body styles and what would be cosidered the Bonneville generations??? Example 54-63 Vettes=C-1 63-67 Vette=C-2 68-82=C3 84-96=C-4 97-2004=C-5 and 2004=C-6
I would love to impress my friend with this knowledge
thanks

The B-2 would be the 1958 Bonneville (new chassis)
The B-3 was the 1959 Bonneville(aka The Wide Track and the "389" engine)
I'd have to look up the differences after that.
BTW - Pontiac never called their generations by the letters. The body styles (especially the headlights and tail lights) changed every year until the late 70'*.

Well that sure makes for a difficult classification, dont it. I think for the later years it'* safer to group them into general generations - at least like 76-87 (the big square bodies, with models before 76 looking more like monte carlos) or the 87-91 generation, and the 92-99, and the 00-present.

If only there were someone with pictures of EVERY year Bonneville...then we could just look at the pix and tell for sure what the differences were from year to year and whether or not it would warrant a different generation.....just a thought

In the '60s, the body styles changed just about every year, a concept that is unheard of in today'* cookie-cutter market. We are probably in the neighborhood of 15th-generation Bonnevilles by now!
