Default Carb problems

ok guys here i am again. 1980 pontiac bonneville. v-6 engine (not positive which. stock engine) i had a crack in my fuel line so i fixed it. now when i try to turn it over it cranks tries to fire then gas comes flowing up through a little space behind (towards the driver away from the front of the engine) the intake. right by the bolt that you attach the air cleaner wingnut too. any thoughts or suggestions? i thought i had it running and now it throws this at me. My guess is that the float within the carburetor is not adjusted correctly or the inlet needle is not seating correctly allowing fuel to leak through the overflow.
Carburetors, that'* just another part I don't miss!!!
