Default Hair trigger horn on '86 Bonneville brougham

I got this car a few months ago and it'* been pretty good so far, except the horn goes off all by itself occaisionally. How big a deal is it to fix this?

Welcome Cyberhun....sorry no one got back to you sooner. It'* one of two things that come to mind. The first would be the contacts underneath the horn buttons on the steering wheel (sorry I'm not familiar with the steering wheel on an '86 Pontiac) and the other would be a wire going to the horns that the insulation has worn away and it is making contact with some other metal. Sorry I could not be more helpful to you. Others on this board may have some other advise.

Default Hi Ol'Timer --- thanks for the response.

I thought I'd risk it and spend a little money on a used car after they raised the bus fare to the point of stupidity --- and despite my lack of experience with autos, I think I might have gotten a really good deal on this ol' dinosaur. I've had it for almost 6 months now and the only thing its needed is gas, it doesn't leak anything from anywhere, the interior and exterior is in amazingly good condition, and everything except the electric antenna works! I got this car because I read a couple books on the subject and they said this type is good because the rear-wheel drive is more reliable, and it sure seems to be --- it just uses a LOT of gas, getting only 5 or 6 kilomters per liter (13miles/gallon).
Anyway, thanks for answering. I have a digital camera and can easily take pics --- could you tell me what to do to try to fix the horn problem? Do you think it would need a new part or is it fixable simply by taking something apart and maybe moving something around or re-tightening something, somehow? I don't really want to completely de-activate the horn, on the other hand I hate it when it goes off in a crowded parking lot (as you can imagine
