Got an 06 impala 3.9L and my AC compressor is being bipolar...Works sometimes and other times it doesn't. It keeps blowing the 10Amp fuse and sometimes it would run for a couple of seconds before blowing the fuse and crapping out. But, when I unplug the connection to the compressor and wiggle the wire and pull on it, it would work fine for a couple of days and than blow the fuse. Should I change the clutch, the whole compressor, or is there a short somewhere....??

Well, obviously there is * a short if the fuse blows....it could be the harness, rubbing through to ground out when the harness moves, or it could be the windings in the compressor clutch.....Start with a visual inspection of the harness.....

I followed the compressor wire and it'* covered by plastic but there'* a small exposed part (two wires) just behind the lower part of the engine. The car only has 60k miles on it and hasn't really been used much. What'* your suggestion...? Tape up the wires with electrical tape..?

If you are pulling up on the connector at compressor and it seems to work for a while, that is an indication of the AC connector /wiring harness. I replaced my connector and all is well.
Consult GM for the correct part number of that harness for your car.
Are the wires below the car bare or still insulation around them?
I like to use plastic wire loom, with the split in the middle to cover up wires.
If the wires are bare, that'* different, heat shrink tubing. Electrical tape wont last long.

Yeah the wires are below the car and for the most part they are insulated except for a tiny part that has exposed wire. You know the part number for this?

Does anyone have a wiring schematic for a 2006 impala 3.9L Compressor clutch?
Need to confirm if it requires pigtail with diode.
Ac Delco # PT-209 does not include diode.
Anyways if this is your pigtail, these can be found at some parts stores or A/C specialized shops.

Yep, it does come with a pigtail connector. The wire sits below the car (right above the splash guard) and half an inch of the wire is exposed. You think that'* whats causing the fuse to keep blowing?

Wrap the exposed wire temporarily with electrical tape & see if fuse remains good.
That being said, a new pigtail connector soldered in place may be the best solution.

You think I should change the clutch? I'm really trying to avoid changing the compressor if it'* not the issue. I just bought the clutch and no shop wants to fix only the clutch.

I'm not big on just throwing parts at a car hoping it fixes things.
If the exposed wire or connector is the problem why do you believe you need to replace the clutch /coil?
Have you done a resistance test on the coil itself?
