Default 1987 camaro iroc

I am just starting to tune up the motor, car is in paint shop now. I have
close to 500 dolars worth of electronics laying in box in garage flow.
one step up on chip, all new stuff complete plugs, wires, all new msd or
acel. I will be doing exhaust as money alows. My thinging is to go with
very small catalic converter that comes with a good exhaust system.
The motor is 5.7 350. Whats the best bang for the buck ? Buy a
complete system ? Or have shop bend me complete set. Of a set
duals front to back. I want little sound ? This will incude headers, long
or short for sound and performance. Lot off dam questions Hey. thanks

In my experience, long tube headers and a X-over dual exhaust system provide the most gain. The X-over, as opposed to straight dual pipes, provides a scavenging effect that improves flow. However, improving the exhaust efficiency does nothing unless you improve intake effeciency. Short of getting into the valve train, you at least want to install a fender well air intake.

Tell me about the chip you are installing. If it one of those magic chips that advertise 50 HP and 10 MPG improvements, they are garbage and will provide no true gains.

No its chip that plugs into box under passgner box on the inside of car, they make no great
claims of 50 hp or any like thing like under hood garbage.

the thirdgen has clearance issues that limit your exhaust options. if its relatively stock the easiest thing to do is get a aftermarket 3in setup that uses the stock y-pipe/cat/single pipe over the rear location. this will flow more than you need. i put true duals on my car and it was quite a bit of fab, nobody makes a kit because without fabing your own trans mount and pipes it hangs down way too low
