Only happens

Only happens when slowing to a stop coasting. Not the brakes or tires. Suggestions please? Tranny? Drive train?

What effect does downshifting or even coasting in neutral have on it? Does it also do it if you are coasting down with the engine off? What speed is it happening at, and is the shutter frequency dependent on vehicle speed, or engine speed?

Havent tried it in neutral or with the motor off. Usually occurs between 20 and stopped. Shudder is consistent with speed at which the vehicle is going. Just always while slowing down. Nothing on take off or at any other point while driving.

I am also curious if you have had it scanned for any codes that may be stored?

Does not shudder in neutral. So I can assume transmission? No codes in the system. Had transmission fluid flushed 20k ago. Everything was checked (rear end also) and I was told everything looked good.

I am thinking that the shudder not happening in neutral just confirms that it is likely something in the drivetrain in general.

20 mph is about the right speed for a 3-2 downshift at coast.

I would start exploring the issue a bit more by looking to see if it specific to a gear by methodically downshifting and holding gears to see what impact it has on the shudder.

Just be sure not to do anything horrendously unwise that could jeopardize the truck or your safety (like dropping to 2nd gear at 85mph).

And to clarify, you are looking for changes in frequency, speeds that it comes on at, etc.

Also edging back on the throttle to see what that does while shuttering could give some clues as well (think driveline slack).

And don't do none of the throttle popping or gear dropping nonsense with any women in the car, it usually causes them to express concern over the lack of ride comfort it may bring on
