Default Need new spark plugs.. and a few other things.

I installed a set of plugs at 240,000 kms. at 265,000 kms the insulator is now cracked slightly and it is showing some age, the plugs. I think its time for new plugs.

I am looking for some good quality plugs. Also, what heat range should I use? Curently it is at hot, (electrode sticks out)

Thermostat is a 195, and was thinking of changing that, what thermo should i get?

Keeping in mind, I have type 2 coils, from a 97 3800, so it should be the hotter plug. what gap should the plugs be set at? .060??

Anything else I'm missing for my spring tune up, other than a possible new fuel filter and o2 sensor?

It does not need new wires, those were replaced a year ago with quality wires.

Might be in the wrong forum, but it doesn't change the advice!

I would suggest a plain old Autolite or NGK copper spark plug. It'* what I run, and I've done cam and heads. You simply do not need to spend the money on platinums or irridiums at this point. Go with a copper plug, and get the stock heat range (just ask at a parts store). You definitely don't need to get colder plugs with your motor in current form.

A 180 degree thermostat would be the only thing besides a 195 that I would recommend, but I don't even know that you need a 180 at this point. Your fans wouldn't be programmed to support it, so it would only help you when on the highway flowing a decent amount of air through the radiator. You aren't using any high performance parts, so sticking with a 195 might be fine, especially since you're in Canada.

I'm not sure about the plug gap on the older motors, though I know it is .060" for the Series 1 and 2 3800s. I'm sure someone else will chime in here soon.
