Ok so I put new tires on and the inside edge of tire is rubbing on the strut took struts off elongated the top hole put them back on and did alignment to correct camber the New tires are the O.E. size P235/55R17 98W but they are still rubbing what can I do at this point the tires are already wearing at the point of contact is it possible that these are the wrong struts even though I double checked

what struts and part numbers did you get?

if its light contact you could grind some on the coil seat if there is room before getting into the coil, or put spacers between the rotor face and wheel

They are Staffs struts part number 885098 rear 885097 front and I was thinking about spacers how thick do they need to be one side wad light contact but the other side is heavier to the point their was melted rubber built up on the strut also this car wad hit before to what extent I don't know but it seems as if the one strut that makes the most contact isn't straight , looking at the left side the coil seat is flat over the tire and the right side ( the side that was hit ) is on a slight incline but after doing and alignment the measurements were all in spec

they list those same part numbers for all w-bodies, and i know there were a bunch of different wheel sizes and trim levels, they dont all use the same, so i doubt they actually made sure it would work for each application. ive never even heard of them before.

personally i would just grind down the lip were its hitting the tire but there is some danger in if you dont know what you are doing you could ruin the integrity of the coil seat. if you arent comfortable with doing that i would take it in to somebody. if you put spacers in it you will have to mess with them for the rest of the time you have the car and there are possible issues with hub wear ( w-body hubs already suck) and possibly issues with fender clearance

For the time being I have a 225/55R17 on that spot which doesn't rub at all I'm thinking maybe I just should have went with that size from the start my rims are only 6.5 in width and I think the 235/55R17 might be overkill its funny I had the same size on my Bonnie but the wheels were a inch wider
