2004 Cavalier: Timing chain cover leaking oil
In another post, I explained how I had to replace a timing guide. To keep costs down, I reused the timing cover gasket without putting any sealant on it. After I get the defroster working (yes, another thread), I will repair/replace the gasket. My question is, can I use some kind of sealant on the old gasket, or is a new one required? Also, if I install a new one, should I use a sealant? If I go the sealant route (either way), what sealant would everyone recommend?
Thanks in advanced,
Randel

When I finally had time to fool with the car, I removed the wheel and everything was dry. The oil I was seeing must have been from when I removed the cover, or it seated and sealed itself. This is not my driver so I drove it 100 miles more and still no oil leak. Glad I did not have to tear into it again.
