Default Back up lights don't work...Manual Tranny Help.

I have a 95 Ext. Cab Silverado with a 5 speed. Failed inspection because back up lights won't work. Checked continuity from sender back to the lights and it'* fine, then replaced the sender... no luck. So I pulled the sender out again and manually manipulated the ball at the end...lights come on fine..... When I put the sender back in, they do not work...... BUT I was backing it after dark tonight and noticed the lights would flash on occasionally while backing but at no other time.... ANY Help...one of those frustrating repairs.................

Default Discovered problem, just don't know a perm. solution.

I have found the problem....the switch is just a tad too short.... Problem there just is not another switch any longer that this make calls for. Both switches called for are 58mm. Trying to locate another option that would work for this application that would be a bit longer, or a way to "make" it work.

Is it possible to "add" material to the end like JBWeld?

I tried JB Weld with a small nut on the end....it lasted just one trip before it failed.....Now I tried Super Glue and set it on the workbench over night (The curve of the ball end fits very nicely into the small nut).....it seems to be attached very tight this morning.....will install and see what happens.
