Default Passenger seat sliding

My passenger seat continues to slide back and forth and will not lock. So driving with someone becomes a real issue. It'* not a power seat and I can't find out how to fix it. I don't want to spend the money on a new seat because I just spent 2300 on a transmission. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Do I need to remove the seat to find out why or is there another way you can think of?

Locking mechanisms aren't that hard to see. Look under the seat for foreign objects interfering with the lock.

Mike is right....first check to see if there is anything under the seat, interfering with the locking mechanism......

With a manual system, you have two locking mechanisms for each side rail....they are spring loaded......when you move the handle, this disengages the "teeth" of the side rails from the locking mechanism......when you release it, the mechanism is suppose to spring back and engage the "teeth" of the side rails......could be the spring mechanism, could be dirt keeping it open when released, or the handle is jammed and not going back to the lock position......

Just put a flashlight under there, and pull on the handle to see if it disengages....then push the handle back to see if it engages....If you see the mechanism not engaging the teeth, manually try to push them to engage the teeth....
