idle re-learn

I just replaced the IAC on a 2001 Malibu because of high idle problems. Still had problem after car got up to temp. Is there a re-learn process for this and if so could someone tell me how to do it.

Thanks for any help

Idle relearn for a 2001? Not really....

More likely a bad connection at the harness connector, bad wire in the harness, or vac leak....

There is no idle learn process. Chances are the high idle was not related to the IAC. Like TII suggested, check for vacuum leaks.

Thanks for the help guys.

The directions that came with the IAC said that after reassemble the rpm may be high (1800-2000) and to drive it at 40 mph and that would cause the
ECM to command the IAC to re-set. That's why I asked.

I did wiggle the wires around while it was running to see if that caused any change. I also sprayed around the intake and anywhere that looked like a vacuum connection with carb. cleaner but didn't get anywhere with that.So I put it in the shop this afternoon and hopefully they,ll find the problem.

thanks again
