One of the lines going from the transmission to the radiator is leaking on my 06 Monte Carlo ( It has the 3.5 engine). I have a new one to replace it but I can't seem to figure out how to disconnect it from the transmission. Is there something special I need to disconnect this?

I think either a 5/8" line wrench(preferred) or your looking at the plastic clip that pops off and slides down the line. Which leave the horseshoe pin that you need a small screwdriver to pop out. Once its out, pop the line out.

There should be a plastic cover you slide back and then there is a little horseshoe spring click. Best way to get it out is with a pick curved one perfered. Then just pull line out.

While your at it replace both the fittings at the transmission. They like to leak as well.

Thanks. I got the plastic cover that slides back, I just wasn't sure how to get the line itself out. I will go find a pick and probably get a new fitting as well.

Just to let you know, there is a tool that you slide onto the transmission line, that spreads the clip and allows you to remove the line....the advantage of the tool is, it spreads the clip instead of removing it.....If you remove it with a pick, it could go flying and then you have to get another one....so be cognizant of that fact, when you use the pick....

Past experience with spring loaded objects learned me very well when it came to removing mine.

I changed the line from the transmission to the lower part of the radiator, but that did not stop the leak. I'm guessing either the connector itself was bad, or I jacked it up by not using the quick disconnect tool. I called AutoZone about a new connector, but they didn't have it and said it could possibly be a dealer item. Am I going to need to go to the dealer to get a new connector, or am I just looking up the wrong thing? It is the one on the transmission for the lower radiator line. Everything I saw from all the other part stores didn't seem to have this either.

Yes , your dealer can get them. Our parts dept. keeps them in stock. And yes that'* the fitting.
