2000 silverado "supercharger" whine
At an idle, under acceleration, any time the pickup is started, I have a whine. I've thought power steering pump, but not 100% sure. Anyone else had this problem? I have flowmaster super 44s on it, and the whine is almost louder than the exhaust and I can not stand it.

Is the power steering fluid full? Does the sound change when wheel is turned or when rpms change? You other thread was removed due to it being posted in wrong section.

Its ok. Usually if its the power steering pump it will change especially when the wheel is turned all the way to either side. You could try taking the belt off and see if it still makes the noise.

Don't need to remove the belt. Now that we know the whining increases and sounds worse when turning the steering to the stops we know the problem is the power steering pump.
