Default 1995 Chevrolet Impala SS 6.1 V12 (BMW S70/2)

This was the first-ever GM production car to have a BMW engine. But only 7 units were made; one as the Prototype in late 1994, and the other six as Production models from mid-1995 to early 1996. Five of those had a 6-speed manual transmission, while the other two were sold with automatics (the same 4L60E). The manual version weighed around 4,017 pounds or 1,822 kilograms, but the automatic version was heavier--at around 4,481 pounds or 2,033 kilograms. The engine was from McLaren'* ultra-rare 212 mph F1 supercar. With 627 (618 SAE net) horsepower the Impala could spank not only the hottest sedans in its era, but also modern ones like the E60 M5 and the W211 AMG'*. The Impala could get to 60 in a sub-5.0 second range, driving all the way through a quarter mile in 12.6 seconds at 124 mph (in accordance to Motor Trend). Take this to the Autobahn in Germany and the top speed clicks at around 203 mph or 327 km/h easily.

Where can we find out more, as there is no mention of this car on wikipedia. It mentions a prototype of a dropped Caprice with an 8.1 liter engine (no cylinder count), and also a big block v8 prototype. I am curious about it.

I`m leaning pretty close to calling bull on this one. 627hp behind a 4L60E? And no Google reference anywhere with a V12, and the username screams of troll.

That'* because in 1994 BMW told GM not to share the facts about the McLaren F1-powered Impala for the next 25 years (until 2019). I am not BMW or GM, but I do have the car. The original MSRP was $139,695

Some of the BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and GM executives thought/think the car was too fast, and the fact that it acts like a NASCAR or Formula 1 sedan, so until late 2019 or early 2020, GM is not allowed to talk about it in the public.

The prototype was released during Thanksgiving in 1994, but the production model was released on June 30, 1995 (yes, that was exactly 42 years after the first Corvette was built).
