75 racer is correct. The prescribed method for repairing the oil pan on a Northstar Cadillac is to pull the engine. I had a similar issue with my '97 Deville Concours a few years back. The upper pan seal developed a pretty nasty leak. The only place I could find that would even touch it was the local Cadillac dealership and they wanted about $2,200 to do the job. I was pretty broke at the time, so I ended up buying a '95 Bonneville for a few hundred dollars less than the repair would have cost and then selling the Caddy with full disclosure about the oil leak. In the end, it was almost a break-even proposition.

Seriously doubt that Northstar had a 4T65E tranny....

The trans was 4T80E.......my mistake.....And that thing was heavy. I was seriously concerned about the heft of the trans/motor on my engine lift.

Someone recently tried to steal my sisters Cadillac (not the car pictured above). Anyhow, the would-be car thief damaged the PassKey3 system, destroyed the dash and steering column. Needless to say, the car doesn't start up anymore. My sister's husband is looking for a nice 2000-2005 DeVille/DTS with a bad motor to swap motors with. I kinda hope he doesn't find one, but they are everywhere with blown motors. No doubt I'll be doing the labor.
