Power steering pump failure
 

Hi guys. I'm having a problem with my '94 Deville. I looked around the forum a bit, and decided to join. I'm hoping to learn some stuff here. Here's my problem. About 2 months ago, the psp failed. I replaced it with a rebuilt. Yesterday, that one failed also. It was under warranty, so I got another, and installed it today. I put fluid in it, started it, and added a bit more as the level dropped. It was making some noise, which I expected until it was bled. Even after turning the steering wheel left and right several times, it was still noisy. I felt the pump, and it was quite hot, after only running for about 2 minutes. ( the ambient temp was only about 10 degrees). I shut it off, and the fluid in the reservoir was bubbling, almost like it was boiling. Any ideas? The only thing I can think of is maybe some frozen moisture somewhere in the system so it can't circulate.

Sounds like you still have some air in the lines.

You may also want to replace the o-ring.

I would want to get the vehicle into garage/warmer surroundings above freezing to eliminate any possibility of blocked, frozen lines. I also wonder if any metal filings from a pump failure could block lines. Flushing the power steering system would be a good idea as well. I use this Lubegard product in all my vehicles PS pumps, really keeps things cooler, quieter, remove friction, and keep seals in good condition. (32oz bottle)

Yes you have air in your lines or something stuck in the line that's why fluid did not able to move so check the line and fix it up. Also use the lube guard and consult with any good car care center.
