Linkage is OK, no problem with the top parts.

I will get the part number you may need when I get back to work. There is a little black plastic clip in the bottom pan that looks like a tailgate rod retainer. if you take the bottom pan off you will see the broken clip. It'* part of the shift linkage.

Just a thought, you might have a Park/Neutral safety switch AND an Automatic Transmission Manual Shifter Auxiliary Position Switch. I don't know if the position switch would cause this problem, just wanted you to be aware of it.
What model Trans do you have? 4T65E?
Floor shift or column?

CARNAU was right, a small piece of plastic was in the oil pan, thus the linkage was disconnected. Part cost $8.94 from local dealer, Ebay is about the same. Part #24229611. Thanks to CARNAU and MIKE, if it not for you fellows, I would be up a creek. As it is, I have purchased a new shifter $162.00 +, a new Neutral Safety Switch $82.00+, a tool for installing the Neutral Safety Switch $19.00. all for a $8.94 part. But, I can only imagine what a dealer or transmission place would have charged me. I think I still saved a bundle by doing it myself. Thanks again. DAVID92246

Sorry. I have been out of town for a while. I meant to come on here and give you the part number. lol. I am glad you got it fixed! It is an addon item on Amazon. lol. Just looks like a little door rod retainer.

Dealer would have charged you the cost of replacing the transmission, but would have changed out that 50 cent part instead.
