I have been thinking, I would like a Cadillac in the near future. Used of course, so I can afford it. I enjoy more hp always, but a 8 cylinder doesn't seem necessary for my uses. I do a good amount of driving long distances and like more miles per gallon.

I am just wondering how the RWD handles in the winter. I always thought FWD was much better for insane weather in a sedan. I am thinking MN and Northwest ND winters. Ice, snow, snow drifts, Ice, blowing snow, snow, ice, water, SNOW, ICE, DRIFTS! Its a fun time. AWD has never really seemed all that necessary. I laugh at the 4wd pickups with snow tires putting down the road in fear as I pass them in my little ole buick with cooper trendsetters.

Favorite models, and years anyone? How do they handle. I can feel the road really good in my lesabre, drove my moms 02 acura mdx and I felt like I was hovering. Not cool, too squirly, and just strange.

I use to have a 92 Seville STS with Caddy 4.9 that was FWD. That car was amazing in the winter time and the only thing that stopped it during winter time was the ride height.

One winter, I came up to a small hill and I saw vehicles sliding down, couldn't get up, or were in a ditch. My Caddy made it up the hill without any problem and just made sure I didn't spin the tires. I drove at 1600 rpms all the way up. Also it avg. 22 mpg.

If you don't want a V8, some of the CTS had V6 in them that didn't seem too bad and they could be RWD or AWD.

i come from where they measure snow storms in feet not inches, so i know. you dont want rwd at all. and as far as a caddy its not what i would call reliable enough to trust myself and my family to go out into a snow storm, sorry to the caddy lovers but they just have too many issues. if i had to pick the ultimate affordable luxury car that is good in the winter it would be a Bonneville (or other H body). reliable 3800 never let us down or left us stranded my wife has never even got it stuck, and its not like she avoids the storms we both work at jobs where we are needed even more when its bad out.

My favorite Caddy is.... my GXP. Hah!

08 sts not bad prices and they come awd or rwd 3.6L thats used in the new camaro and makes 304 hp or you have the option of getting the northstar v8 which makes 320 hp

I love my 2003 DTS, it rides so smooth. poor gas mileage because I love the power. 15mpg city.
They improved the head issue with longer bolts and courser threads.
I have only 79,000 miles on it because I take the bus to work.
I think my next will be an AWD STS from 2006 thru 2008.

I love my 3800 series I. 95 lesabre limited. Just getting a lot of rust, one fix after another. The wife is getting sick of me telling her what I am doing with my car over my weekend off, rather than what I am doing with her. hahaha. I know she loves cadillacs, but gas mileage is the real problem. I really like the look of the new CTS'* I have seen, I just wish it came in FWD, I have never needed AWD, been in the ditch once, and AWD would not have made a difference, we get feet of snow here. Last winter, I swear, we had a foot of ICE after the last bad storm of the season. Saw someone dragging a freakin shed down the road tied up to a compact sedan. Anyways...I need a 6 cylinder with some power, some FWD, and some decent mpgs. And of course, STYLE and a comfy ride. Is that so hard to ask from GM? Might end up having to go with AWD, is that ever a feature that can be shut off like 4wd. such a harsh drop to mpg that seems all too unnecessary.

AWD usually isn't something you can turn off.

Only newer Cadillac that comes to mind to what you want is a Cadillac BLS, but you would have to import it.
