Controlled Power Relay- RAP

Hi All. New to the forum. I read back thru the posts and no one has asked , or even mentioned RAP., at least since 2011. Windows and sunroof stopped working all of a sudden. I thought it might be the door switch, but rather than spend $$$ (it's a Caddy),I found this site. Glad I did. 1999 Eldo ETC, Where are the relays located? Radio still works as it should. I'm looking forward to having a good time here, gathering info and seeing how many and what kind of problems are ahead. Thanx in advance. Losagin . Eldo 1999 136Kmi

Well, first of all, anyone that gets a Caddy, and wants to do work on it, should get either a manual or a subscription, to something like AllData(do I get any kind of kickback for saying this?)......

Caddy's are creatures unto themselves....complicated......and parts are not in the usual places.....systems are renamed....

There is no RAP relay, per say.....it's called the Controlled Power relay.......The Body control Module is called the PZM.....since your radio works, there is nothing wrong with the "RAP" relay(CP relay)....

The relays are located in the rear relay centers, behind the upper rear seat......

But the relay you are looking for is called the Accessory Time Delay relay......Don't you love Caddy's?.......it powers the front windows and sunroof......first check the windows circuit breaker(it powers windows and sunroof) in the LH underhood fuse block.....if ok, then you have to check the relay......it is taped into a wire harness, under the sill/carpet on the driver's side....#1 points to it......here is it's location.....

The Eldo is my 'Late Life Crisis'. I knew they were a breed unto themselves..Had a '68SDV,'79CDV, and now the' 99.
Thanks for the diagram, it will be a big help. Losagin '99ETC

Should I get in the trunk and check that fuse block first? Have to wait 'till the weather breaks a little.
'Nother problem-- cold startup is immediate. after getting up to temp, leaviving it sit while shopping (another one of my jobs) it takes a while to start, about 5 seconds. When it does start, it's like a cold diesel, one cylinder at a time. Had the starter replaced, could the plenum gasket be leaking? Doesn't seem to affect gas mileage, though.

Might be a bad fuel pump relay. If you haven't swapped it, it would be a good idea anyways. If it doesn't fix it keep the old one as a spare. You'll need it. :)

Cathedral, I doubt it's a fuel pump relay....he says it starts ok cold, not warm....and the way this is set up, if the relay doesn't work, it will set a code and light the CE light, because there is a feedback signal to the PCM...

Now if this were a 3.8, I would be thinking F/P reg.....but don't know if this Caddy engine had the same problem with their regulators....

As for the relays, I don't think they can be accessed from the trunk, they are behind the seat.....and as I said, the Controlled Power Relay has to be working because your radio is working....

Ah okay. I was thinking like a lot of that era GM where if the fuel pump relay doesn't work the oil pressure sender will energize the fuel pump. Sometimes relays get angry when hot or warm.

Cathedral, TechII..Ran a scan, Bank 2 Running lean. Leads me to believe the intake is leaking. Would the old 'spray some WD around and listen to the change in speed work on the N*?? \
Found the rats nest behiond the kick panel, Still working on that.
Thanks, Losagin
