Does anyone know if it'* possible to test the pump somehow to see if it'* bad or not? As expensive as they are and being on a tight budget I don't want to buy one and end up not needing it. I dont have a scan tool to run any kind of output test (which would be nice). Could I supply power to it to see if I hear anything? Or check resistance at the connector? im really hoping i can get away with just a fluid and filter change. hopefully it doesnt give me trouble and strip out Im assuming the "17-10-2014" is the date. I could be completely wrong tho. if it is that would mean its been replaced right? being a 2012 and all
The car has 152k miles on it. Im not sure of the service history specifics. (Car Care app shows good history of dealership services but basically only says "vehicle serviced" or "maintainance performed"). I was looking at the pump the other day and noticed the date on the pump that said 2014 so it has been replaced i would think. and the fill plug is a bit mangled so someone has at least done a fluid change. problem is idk exatly when that was.
where has this website been all my life! but it doesnt say or show anything regarding my question. it does show how to do output tests but i dont have a bidirectional scan tool. hence why i asked about the methods i did.
I appreciate the link tho. definitely will be using it again.

Look at the wiring diagram and you should be able to figure it out.,
A few differential clutch related sections refer to diagnosis and testing, but I agree not at the differential clutch motor part.
Back to answering the original question:
Is it doing anything unbecoming? If it'* full with fluid, just drive it until you need to worry about it and save a few bucks. I haven't seen anything here that tells me that it doesn't work.
You can't just hook 12V to it and make it do stuff. That is bound to damage something.
